For those who were not in attendance, i.e., the population of Earth minus eight, Mise en Place provided musical noise with the assistance of sound-amplification machinery at the legendary Big V's in St. Paul last Thursday night, March 2nd. Although the band was unable to hear how they sounded, the early reports are that it was loud. Mise en Place pulled a couple of early classics ("Extra Extra" and "Bolton Wanderer") off the bench to please their more attentive fans, who responded by laughing at Joey's astoundingly non-clever humour, provided in one-line doses on the most recent FRIENDS episode running in syndication on TBS and surprisingly counter-balanced by the too-sarcastic-for-his-own-good Chandler, whose avante-garde sneer of an atttitude particularly delighted the Mise en Place male demographic in the eastern metropolitan area, who were heard to say, "Wow, Chandler is funny. Can I have another beer, [insert name of significant other or roommate]?" Be My Emergency opened the show. The Debut closed. Mise en Place filled the time between. The band thanks Big V's for providing such a wonderful venue for independent music.
Later this month (March 31st to be precise), Mise en Place will be participating in a big event at The Red Sea in the City of Minneapolis. Or is it monumental? With an event this important, it's hard to say how to describe it. What's the word to describe when Ross and Rachel first acted on their repressed love for one another and a tear welled up in your eye but you didn't cry because Cory was watching you closely fighting back his own tear mid-Dorito, Shaun? Yeah, that's the word . . .
When and where was that again, Mise en Place? MARCH 31ST at The Red Sea.
Recall that, the last time the band hit The Red Sea, it was off the hook. This show promises to be better. Flavor Crystals are playing. The Pundits are playing. Flavor Crystals and The Pundits are phenomenal musical artists, and, yes, the show is on a Friday night. Friday. Night. The day after Friday is Saturday. In other words, March 31st is going to be quite a party. And what would you rather do on a Friday night than drink Red Stripe at a Somalian bar and restaurant while your favourite band plays all of their hits?
So, join the band for a Friday night gala at The Red Sea with Flavor Crystals and The Pundits. As always, check out this blog and the official website for the latest. Check out the MySpace site for Sounds of Mise en Place. And contact your favourite Mise en Man for info on how to obtain Mise en Stuff (women's tee shirts and metrosexual stickers, specifically). Also, check out the most recent edition of COPPER PRESS, featuring Mise en Place's "The Plot." Till next time . . .
