The debut of Mise en Wear:
In case you missed it, last night's Mise en Place show at The Uptown was off the hook. The band was a little beaten up by the end of the set, but that didn't stop the gentlemen of Mise en Place from pleasing a crowd of adoring fans who were happy finally to have the opportunity to drink their way through a set of music from their favorite band.
Now, onto the injury report . . . during the show, drummer Shaun Westphal's ruthless beating of his drums resulted in a devastating blister that can almost be seen with a magnifying glass. The super-attentive members of the audience noticed that bass player Cory Rath tired late in the set, which had nothing to do with the three Lemon Drops he downed at Chino Latino before the show. Meanwhile, ranter Drew Patrick decided to take his love of the WWE to a new extreme by bleeding from his hand all over his guitars and the stage all night long. M Forrester miraculously escaped injury, even as he engaged in numerous dangerous maneuvers to dodge all of the blood spatter flying from the center of the stage.
When it was all said and done, most of the attendees were too wasted not to praise the band for their proficiency in playing the songs. What the audience didn't know is that the show may or may have not been bootlegged . . . whether it was or not will depend on the outcome of a special band "meeting" to see about the truth of this rumor. The band's best guess is that, if they did rock the house last night, there was probably a bootleg. If they didn't rock, then maybe there is just a lost recording that we will find many years down the road to reach into our fans' pocketbooks one more time. In any case, Mise en Place did field audience complaints about not hearing this or that favorite song, so -- being the sellouts that they are -- the band promises to deliver all of the hits tomorrow night at Lee's Liquor Lounge, one of the coolest live music venues in the world. The set goes off at 9:30 . . . don't be late!
