Mise en Place's sixth show was definitely one for the books. Rock and roll was in play from the get-go, and the crowd enthusiasm was almost noticeable.

It was a night of emotional highs and lows, starting with the adrenaline shot that was Band of Northern Aggression's tirade through a set of thoroughly down-home American rock music, delivered with flair, panache and docile irreverence. Keep BONA on your radar screen, as they might just blow up right with your first favorite band (Mise en Place, of course).

As the night unfolded, there was a sense of unrest in the community of showgoers . . . Why is Mise en Place playing here, of all places? Why is there only one beer on tap, why does it have to be Michelob Golden Draft Light, and more importantly why is it not the band's beer of choice? Where in the flip is Jimmy John's with the sweet reason why I came here in the first place . . . a free Italian Night Club chased by a Bootlegger?!? As the restlessness spread and the peasants readied a revolt, their lords (Mise en Place, of course) quieted them with a dose of the Mise en Place version of the opiate of the masses . . . Mise en Place brought the noise. The early reviews are good (the band even pondered retirement after its stunning performance of "The Test"), but Mise en Place are not about to rest on their laurels. The band fully intends to conquer the mysterious Eastern land of St. Paul . . . at a rock-metal club called Station 4 . . . at 9:00 p.m., Wednesday night, December 21, 2005 (yes, that is THIS WEDNESDAY NIGHT) . . . and, no, Mise en Place have not a clue as to whether they will be killed two minutes into the set by disgruntled fans who thought that Brain Rape was filling the Mise en Place time-slot. In other words, please don't miss this one . . . we need strength in numbers!
