Holy shit! Mise en Place played another show and you didn't even know about it! It was very short notice for us, too, so we apologize for not keeping you in the loop. We tore up Lee's Liquor Lounge last night like that one scene in Dazed and Confused where Randy tears up the football "contract" and says, "I've got coach's and everybody else's attitude adjusted priorities right here." We actually headlined, too. How cool is that? Our new friends The Very Idea "opened" for us. Be sure to check them out tonight at the Terminal Bar. We ended up with 11 people showing up to watch us play thanks to frantic phone calls made by the members of MeP between the hours of 5:00PM and 7:00PM. Thanks to all who came out (Snoop Dogg even made an appearance). Sorry you missed history in the making to all those who didn't. It felt pretty great to rock the stage that was once rocked by Tiny Tim. The reviews are in and we've heard things like, "this is the best you guys have ever sounded," "great show," and "you guys will surely take over the world." You know, the usual stuff. Oh yeah, I almost forgot the best (not really) part. We got PAID! Bling bling...

Hey, another piece of news that you of course already know about and have been looking forward to with all your might. We're recording our first record tomorrow. We don't know yet whether it will become a single, an EP, an LP, disc 6 of the Box Set, or a whole Box Set, but you'll obviously be the first ones to know when we beg for your money upon it's commercial release. Stay tuned, same bat time, same bat channel.

Show #2 was a success. I might go as far as to call it a "smashing success". The crowd size has been estimated at 25 to 1000 people, but the most common estimate was 50, so we'll go with that. Not bad for a second first show! The age range of the crowd was 15-80. I'm guessing this is the only show we'll be able to say that about. The band sounded great, the crowd cheered, the coffee flowed, the cookies were munched, and the panties flew. Congratulations (and thank you) to those of you who were on hand to witness history in the making. Also thanks to everyone who clapped us into an encore. There's nothing like playing a song you've rehearsed once for a crowd that thought you were pretty good a minute earlier. Keep your eyes on the MySpace site and this here blog for details on a late Nov./early Dec. performance at Urban Wildlife. We're recording next weekend Paul Bunyan styley in some secluded, wooded area north of your Twin Cities. We promise to have some MP3s up soon after. I'll take it upon myself to say a good time was had by all. "A good time was had by all," said Shaun. I'd also like to give a shout out* to everyone who came to see us. We do this for the fans you know; without you people, we wouldn't be up there on stage every night! Thanks also to everyone at Stub and Herbs for having us (even though they didn't know they were having us until we showed up begging for free beer wrist bands). Speaking of free beer wristbands, that joint served up the cans of PBR like they were going out of style. They might as well get it over with and just set us up as their house band. I wonder what it would take to get PBR to endorse us? So yes, Mise en Place's proverbial live performance hymen was torn ("cherry was popped" for the uncouth ["perverted" for the stupid]). It went off without a hitch. I don't think we could be more pleased with the result. We're now ready to destroy Java Jack's next Saturday when we play our "official" first show. I'll skip the details here; run right over and check them out, won't you? See ya there...

Welcome to this, the Mise en Place blog. Mise en Place is happy to have you. Rather than take the time to introduce the band, I'll assume you'll get to know us along the way. I have important news:

Tonight (Oct. 6, 2005)
Mise en Place will play a show with our new friends Sunshine Behavior. Said show will happen at Stub & Herb's, 227 Oak St. SE on the East Bank. Find directions and such here. Mise en Place will take the stage around 10:00 with Sunshine Behavior to follow. Be there, or be forced to lie like the bastard you are when this show becomes an historic event.
