Pinecurtain Studio Session, 10-29-05

Mise en Place knows that you've been clock-watching as you've patiently waited to hear how things went in the studio over Halloween weekend. Well, Mise en Place has this to share: we had a wonderful day of capers, whether it was the band's collective flirtation with a Perkins waitress worthy of a higher calling in an I-35 truckstop or the bass player's one-upsmanship of his bandmates in his "dealings" with an octogenarian at Walgreen's. And this happened before the band even made it to Pinecurtain . . .

Speaking of Pinecurtain, the proprietor Jon Gorham and his family of co-hosts went well beyond the call of duty in welcoming trouble and inconvenience, i.e., Mise en Place, into the woods for the day, and the band sends the highest thanks and regards to their gracious hosts at the 'curtain.

The tape rolled, and the band played . . . many songs, your favorites included. When it was all said and done, Mise en Place had certainly recorded material worthy of two discs in their second posthumous box set. More conveniently for the band, there was enough for a demonstration (that's "demo" the long way) of the Mise en Place way of doing things. It is yet unknown whether the Pinecurtain Session will go down as a mysterious detour in the band's soon-to-be-legendary early era or the crowning achievement of the band's entire career.

What is known is that Mise en Place will be coming to bars, clubs, and venues of all sorts in the Edina metropolitan area over the coming months. For now, this is a good place to come for updates. There is also the infamous mailing list, the MySpace website, the picture site, the video site. . . and, in the near future, Mise en Place's next conquest (drumroll, please): an exclusively Mise en Place website. Stay tuned for news about the next Mise en Place show, Show .4 . . .

Now that you've read about the infamous Jon (Peel) Gorham sessions. Why not see the band, your band, in action? (Photos by band)
